Getting A Few Things off My Chest...Rambling on

I'm going to get a little political. Yes I know, don't discuss religion or politics. Well, let me explain. Many full time RV'ers either decide to go to Mexico or Canada. Our government has decided you need a passport to get back into this country. Okay, I can live with that. I have traveled to over a dozen foreign countries and have had a passport since 1975. I went to the post office and found the paperwork to renew  my expired passport. My passport expired a year ago. I had to fill out the paperwork, have two new pictures taken, and send in payment of $110. None of the information had changed. That's 36 years of the same information. So now I have to give the government $110 to be able to go to Mexico and have some dental work (or whatever). If I decide to go to Alaska, I have to have a passport. I don't guess I would've complained if it were just $10 or $25, but $110 seems like a ripoff to me. The only good thing is they are issuing a driver's license style ID card that will be much easier to keep up with. I may never use it, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it.

One of my friends sent me a rant, via e-mail, that I would like to share with you:

Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming, Co-Chair of Obama's deficit
commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he
compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.
August, 2010.

Here's a response in a letter from a unknown fellow in Montana... I
think he is a little ticked off ! He also tells it like it is !

"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight...

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY
2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15
years old. I am now 63).
3. My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other
Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for
decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give
OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus
bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme
that would have made Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the
proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing
retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to
age 67.  NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the
goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare
from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the
game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to
such an  extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the
6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our
entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why?
Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that
you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come
to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullsh*t" on
your incompetence. Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during
your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and
how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the
American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4.  What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you
proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual,
have  you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bullsh*t, and your political co-conspirators who are
"greedy". It is you and they who have bankrupted America and stolen the
American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers.  And for
what?  Votes.  That's right, sir.  You and yours have bankrupted America
for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers.  You
know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.

And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bit*h."

Like I said, today is a rant and ramble day just to get a few things off my chest. I'm not blaming the Republicans, Democrats conservatives or liberals for the shape our country is in. I think they're all equally guilty. It really does break my heart to read some of the economic news today. There's talk that the American dollar is no longer the standard of the world. This world would be in sad shape if the United States had not stepped up against the Axis powers in World War II. I'm not saying we haven't made mistakes, because we have. I think we're by far the best country in the world. We just have to root out some evil, greedy, corrupt politicians. IMHO. My political party? I'm a libertarian. What party is that, you ask? If you are interested, click here.

Okay enough about politics. I got up early this morning and went and finished the work I had to do in my storeroom. I covered the holes in the tin walls with aluminum tape. I still have to spray-foam some of the bigger voids to keep the dust out. The weather girl told me this morning we're going to have 50 mph winds and large areas of blowing dust. That would be a typical spring day in West Texas. I am so ready to move on in my role as full-time RV'er. My brother called me from Daytona Beach this morning. He told me the weather was wonderful, Bike Week was starting and that he missed me being here. I have made seven of the last twelve Bike Weeks. I have so much work to do preparing for my new future, I'll just have to miss it this year. To learn about Bike Week, click here.

If you've noticed, today's post includes two links with the "click here" information on them. Both of them lead to a URL. I've always wondered how my friends send me e-mails like that. Before today, my added links would be the name of the URL I was linking to. I did an Internet search asking how to rename a link. I found one that was simple enough for me to understand, experimented with it, and really like the results. I love the Internet. So if you will excuse me, I have to go batten down the hatches and bring in the poodles so they don't get blown away. Yep, as predicted, the wind is cranking up.ttyl

  1. Good post and rants today sir!!! IMHO, it's your blog, rant all you want too :-) I'm going to steal your part about the retiree in Montana. The ole boy is 100% correct. BTW, if you ever want to rant or sound off and NOT put it here, feel free to post it to my other blog account I created just for that reason.

  2. Thanks Ben. I wasn't worried about pissing off my readers. Everyone should agree on Social Security. No matter how old you are, the money comes out of your pocket. The government is not acting in good faith on this issue.
