Life.....On Life's Terms!

It will soon be 4 months since I started my new life on the road. I would love to report 3+ months of trouble free living. I would love to honestly say that everything has just fallen into place and worked perfectly. I feel like a green-bean newcomer, sometimes. The truth is, not everything has gone as planned. When you last heard from me, I had just arrived in Daytona Beach. What I didn't tell you was the problem I had towing the toy-hauler. Look at this...

That is a brand new air shock because the other one had a hole worn into the side of it. See the big ol' tire? It was the one who did the wearing out job. Why? It appears the inside dual tire only had 30lbs of air. Not Good! The other five tires had 40 lbs of air. Really not good! I trusted my tire shop to check my tires. Never again. I am now in charge of air!(no pun intended)  It was a lesson learned and won't be forgotten. I was even thinking about a different truck. ( I had no idea new trucks are so expensive now) The ol' white truck drives like a new one now.

I had a great time during Daytona Bike Week. For those of you who don't know, Bike Week is a great gathering of the tribes in the Harley world. 500,000+ motorcycles. It makes for a crazy and diverse 10 days. Here are some assorted pictures...

I have made some small additions to my rolling home. Most of these things were needed...

I have had some items decide they didn't like camping. For instance, this is being written on my new laptop. I don't think I am all that crazy about Windows 8. Any opinions?

I will try to stay better in touch. I do appreciate and love you all.

Sincerely,

Michael Ultra

  1. Had a funny feeling something was not right for you as you had not posted in such a long time. I can relate to the problems with a new rig. I almost sold my RV a month after purchasing it. There were so many things that went wrong with it. Plus I was so disillusioned with the whole camping experience. I have now found a happy medium and take short trips only a couple of times a year. I realize that this lifestyle is not for everyone, as glamorous as it may seem. Hope things get better for you. Love your photos of the bikes.

  2. I was getting worried about you. Thought maybe you got yourself lost somewhere. Glad to see you are alive and kicking. There was a lot of chrome and skin in your pictures. Good combination.

  3. Here I was thinking you were having way too much fun, in Daytona, to blog. We hit the raod at about the same time and it's been a bit of a learning curve with a few glitches thrown in. E#xcept for those glitches and putting gas in this beast's tank, I am loving life on the road.

    Happy trails!

  4. Glad to hear you are okay. Other than the tires and towing problem, you didn't say much about how you are enjoying the life? I hope things are going okay now. Are you still in Daytona?

  5. So glad to hear from you. Been worried. our friend Dianna took her new rig out last week when she followed us down to southeast AZ. After three days she wanted to know where a cliff was to drive it off of. Sure hope things pick up for you and stop causing so many problems. Jim checks our tires every week just to make sure. We also have a tire pressure monitoring system.

  7. Update? Wondering if you decided the whole thing was more trouble than it is worth, or if you are off having the time of your life.

  10. Well, at least you're easy to catch up with! ha, I've fallen behind on many folks. Sorry about the shock & tires. I fill & keep an eye on my own tires. I have a small medium quality tire compresser to fill mine with & extensions on the duallies to make it all easier to fill. Trust no one else! I've had the same problems of incorrect pressure done by those we think we rely on. Ha on the screen! One of my dogs went through mine once!
Some of those bikes, although really cool looking, don't appear to be legal in some states.

  11. Michael, you're not alone. I do not like Windows 8, either. Blessings from a fellow blogger, Lynn
